Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not sell your personal information or use advertising trackers. We use a small number of cookies, the details you give us, and technical data to show nearby ads, run the chat, screen photos, process payments and send plan reminders.

What we collect

• Ad details: title, description, price, category, city, state, ZIP code, contact name and photos.
• Approximate location: the coordinates shared when you publish, used to measure distance.
• Messages: what you write in chats with buyers or sellers.
• Plan data: the plan you bought, its dates and payment status. Card numbers go directly to Stripe and are never stored by us.
• Email address: if you enter one at Stripe Checkout, so Stripe can send a receipt and we can remind you before a plan ends.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and request logs, kept by our hosting provider to deliver and protect the site.

Browser identity and cookies

An HttpOnly cookie named checkonlineprice_visitor stores a random ID for one year and links your ads, plan and chats to this browser. A lang cookie remembers your language for one year. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.

Because there is no account, clearing cookies disconnects you from your ads and messages.

Your location

While you browse, your location is used in your browser to sort ads by distance. To turn coordinates into a place name, our server sends them to BigDataCloud's reverse-geocoding service; we do not publish your browsing location or attach it to any ad.

When you publish an ad, the coordinates you shared are stored with it so distance can be calculated. The public ad shows your city and state — not your street address or a map pin.

How we use data

• show ads within 20 miles and sort them by distance;
• publish and display your ad, including its photos;
• deliver chat messages between buyers and sellers;
• check photos for nudity, violence or other inappropriate content before publishing;
• process plan payments and send renewal reminders;
• prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms;
• comply with legal obligations and improve the service.

Service providers process data for us under their own terms:

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the service. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

• Cloudflare — hosting, database and photo storage;
• Stripe — payments and receipts;
• Resend — plan reminder emails;
• an AI provider — automated photo-safety checks;
• BigDataCloud — coordinates to place names.

Photo and message review

Every photo is reviewed automatically before an ad goes live. Messages are private to the two people in the chat, but we may access them when investigating abuse, enforcing these terms or responding to a legal request.

How long we keep data

Ads stay while they are live. When you delete an ad, we keep a private copy in a recovery archive so you can restore it; archived ads are not shown to buyers. Chats stay while the conversation exists. Plan and payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Cookies last one year. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider.

Your choices and rights

You can delete any ad from My ads and clear cookies at any time (which disconnects this browser from its ads, plan and chats). You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it by writing to the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object or to complain to a data-protection authority. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights, but we may need to confirm that you control the browser the data belongs to.

Children

Checkonlineprice is for adults. You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to post an ad, and the site is not directed to children.

Security

We use HTTPS, HttpOnly cookies and access controls, and we keep the data we collect to what the service needs. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not post sensitive information in an ad or a chat.
